Talisker is owed by Diageo but is operated by United Distillers and Vintners and those guys do a good job keeping the mealy corporate hands off of the malt. To understand the signature Glengoyne style \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eyou also need to know these three things.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e First, the malt is indirectly \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003edried with warm air \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e(no peat or coils). Second, they exclusively use \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eGolden Promise barley \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e— which has a lower grain yield, but higher quality. Third, they make \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eextensive use of Sherry casks for aging \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003eacross the entire core range. Only the best casks will do.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nThere's so \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eplenty to love about this brand, \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003eand everything can be quite evident in \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ethe Glengoyne 21\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e. This used to be the oldest expression in the lineup until the 25-year-old was released. Anyways, this is as premium a bottling as you’re gonna find. Balanced, rich and full of \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ethat special Glengoyne character\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e. The sherry casks play a massive part in the finished product with sweet and spicy aroma reminding us of the fact that this distillery offers something special indeed. Something worth exploring and admiring. At this price, you’re getting a fine bargain, but even more importantly — \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ea truly polished Whisky\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e.
